Actively shaping our future
Hotels in particular need to actively organise their future. A critical look at its own consumption of natural resources was also essential at Hotel Sonneck. Since 2010, when the first combined heat and power plant was commissioned, the Traue family has focussed on the sustainable development of their hotel business. A future fit for grandchildren - across all departments - was and is the goal! This was followed in 2011 by extensive energy-related remodelling of rooms and conference rooms.
This was followed by investments in photovoltaics, software solutions for energy optimisation, the replacement of lighting, rainwater cisterns, washing machines, aerators and ozonation systems, e-charging columns, thermal insulation glazing and the construction of a wood chip plant. Further training, waste avoidance and separation, regional partnerships and a seasonal menu with a large selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes make all the difference.
Hotel Sonneck has now been GreenSign certified at Level 4 since 2021. All efforts ultimately have one goal: to continue to provide guests with a place to feel good. Due to its special location in the 80,000-hectare Knüll Nature Park, the hotel continues to contribute to preserving the beauty of the region. The 17 global goals for sustainable development - Agenda 2030 of the UN - are motivation to break new ground together and to learn from a joint exchange. With you too!
